My Mai: Water Sustainability Exhibition

Water is vital to life; this is a simple fact, but human behaviors and relationships with water are increasingly complex. This ongoing research in cross-cultural design education between two geographically distinct classrooms encourages students to collaborate virtually, exchange ideas, explore possibilities, and create new tools, approaches, and communication solutions around our planet’s most precious and imperiled resource.

An outcome of this research is a series of student design projects that illustrate the inherent complexity and systemic impacts of water sustainability as well as its inextricable relationship with human emotions and behaviors. Public exhibitions in both Doha and Rochester help raise community awareness about the implications surrounding human interactions with water and the power of design as a change agent for environmental and humanitarian sustainability.
