Check out this special issue of Serrote in which eight full pages utilize typographic illustration both simply and beautifully. Serrote is a Brazilian literary magazine that beautifully combines typography and image in each unique publication. In this special issue, the portraits of famous authors are made by the letters in their names. I had a blast at the Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival in downtown Cary yesterday. There were tons of outstanding artists selling everything from mixed media and photography - to pottery and jewelry. The City of Melbourne has been using a new city-wide identity for the past year - and it's simply fantastic. As some of you may or may not know, my family is from Melbourne and my mum is currently visiting our family in Australia. I was sad I couldn't travel with her on this particular trip home, but am thrilled that she told me about this daring and eye-catching design representing the city.

Smokin' hot typography created by the fantastic graphic designer: Nir Tober. He explains that it took him about 15 hours, in 2 sessions to create the alphabet. Every letter had about 30-50 shots until he got it right - now that's late night dedication!
