MEDEA aims to foster dialog between the design industry and those who educate the next generation of designers by providing a platform for sharing ideas, challenges and opportunities. In responding to this platform, the Board of Directors of MEDEA developed a panel discussion on the broad topic of ‘Contemporary Design Portfolios’ as a way to engage with the audience of the Tasmeem Doha 2015 3ajeeb! Conference.
The President, Diane Mikhael, and Vice President, Muneera Spence of the Association, curated the event and invited educators across the Region to be part of the moderated panel discussion.
The panelists discussed contemporary expectations of the design industry and the kinds of messages conveyed by a designer’s portfolio. This includes individual skills and acuities of the designer, their arena of interest, and the prowess of the University from which they emerge.
The conversation aimed to demystify the enormous expectations placed on designer’s physical portfolios and offered new methods to help deliver/disseminate this critical information to a wider potential audience.
