It was an absolute pleasure to attend the ‘Third International Conference on Leadership in Pedagogies and Learning’ held in Brisbane this September on the beautiful Stuartholme campus.

The goal of islPAL is to promote high-quality pedagogies and effective learning across disciplines, for safe, sustainable living, lifelong learning, and community well-being. This two-day gathering of educators was an opportunity to share authentic conversations and build personal capacity around trends in pedagogies and learning in local and global contexts.

My ‘snapshot of pedagogy’ shared a pedagogical model for social change instruction under the title “New Learning Spaces for Teaching Social Change in the MENA Region.” Extrapolating from scholarly literature on blended learning, digital technology and interdisciplinary collaboration, I discussed how University classrooms can operate as transformative arenas promoting positive social change when instructors serve as a link between students and the community.
